About the Artist

I have been making pottery since the early 1970s.  My pottery interests started out with the making of wheel thrown functional ware, such as dishes, vases, and other useful household items.

I've developed my style over the years and continue to make many different types of pottery, both wheel thrown and hand built, but I've lately explored my interest in animals and wildlife by incorporating animal tracks into my pottery pieces.

For many years my husband, Sammy, and I have spent time walking along the roads near our 25 acre homestead and in the National Forest land near Sopchoppy.  We often see bear, bobcat, wild turkey, and many other tracks. We don't see the actual bears, bobcats and other wild things too often, but their tracks show they are sharing the forest and roadways with us.

One of my favorite hobbies is to make plaster casts of the various tracks we find on our roads. When the plaster casts are pressed into clay and fired, these pottery paw prints make everyday items more interesting.  I use the animal tracks to make soap dishes, spoon rests, refrigerator magnets, wind chimes and other interesting pieces.
